Friday night marked the First Annual Corn Shuck Fest at the UVA Community Garden. Congratulations to all of the volunteers who worked to put on such a fantastic event! The evening was marked by beautiful fall weather, acoustic bluegrass, and of course, the bounty of the harvest (supplemented by some delicious pot luck items!).
Aside from providing a great way to wrap up the week, the event really highlighted the community aspect of the local food movement here in Charlottesville. Members of the local food movement, garden volunteers, undergraduate and graduate students, and faculty and staff from all over UVA came together to break (corn)bread, play corn hole, and chat about food together in the garden under a bright, autumn sky.
Can’t wait for next year’s fest!
