A group of us went to Monticello this past weekend to check out the annual Heritage Harvest Festival. The weather was perfect and we had a great group of students head up to Thomas Jefferson’s little mountain. The festival is intended to educate and celebrate this region’s local food heritage. We attended a cheese-making demonstration, toured the working garden, and sampled tasty jam, heirloom watermelons, and dozens of local tomatoes. The best part was definitely connecting with local farmers and food advocates, including UVA’s own Community Garden.
Thanks again to everyone who came out!
Our next event will be the Corn Shucking Fest this Friday at the UVA Community Garden. Hope to see you there!
